Daily collaboration ensures the brightest and best solutions for you. Clients work one on one with seasoned designers and architects in order to achieve the best possible solution in the shortest amount of time. At TECTA you get the resources of a large firm with the quick response of a small firm.


Ahmad Mohazab


After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas, Mr. Mohazab went on to his graduate studies at Rice University. Mr. Mohazab opened TECTA Associates in 1985 and has decades of experience in architecture, interior design and planning. He is licensed in more than thirty states, certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, has been published in numerous periodicals and has been the recipient of design and civic awards.

Administrative Assistant

Alicia Kwan

Besides supporting the office manager in the daily office duties, Alicia manages the front desk at TECTA with a professional attitude. With an enthusiastic and cheerful energy, she assists and coordinates so that everything is running smoothly. Her experience from working at the San Francisco Design Center has given her the knowledge on how to support the staff with their projects.

Alina Cherny

With over two decades of professional experience Alina has worked on a wide range of diversified practice areas including Restaurant, Retail and Commercial projects.

In her design solutions she focuses on each client’s unique goals and needs by combining her global vision with detailed and holistic approach for every project. She strongly believes that understanding client’s needs, realizing their vision through strategic design and creative collaboration are the keys to a successful outcome.
Her passion for the design process and deep knowledge of the field allow her to build long-term relationships while guiding her clients through complexity of the projects, no matter big or small.

Project Coordinator

Andre Wainwright

I like the freedom, challenge and travel at TECTA. I have 30 years of experience in measuring and surveying sites and enjoy developing them into new sets of construction drawings. My specialty is equipment layout for restaurant and commercial kitchens. I make sure our clients receive all necessary equipment for their restaurant kitchens and use finishes that are compliant with the local Health Departments. In my leisure time I am an avid bowler, enjoy race car driving and keeping computers running. Someday I’d like to visit Australia and South Africa.

Anjeeta Maharaj

I like the innovative environment at Tecta. My love for interiors plus over 10 years of work experience provide me with the opportunity to support all aspects of design phases and construction drawings. When away from work, I like to read, garden and enjoy time with my family.

Brent Lords

RA, LEED ap, GreenPoint Rater: CGBP

My father, a contractor practically raised me on a construction site, giving me experience in most construction trades. A background that has served me well. I became interested in what is now known as Green Architecture in the late 60’s – way ahead of today’s curve. It’s an on-going love to this day, I am constantly looking for ways to integrate architecture with its environment, context and user. Having my own small office for 20 years was another valuable experience, making me a big believer in the Team approach to architecture, where client, contractor, designers and engineers play interactive and equally important roles early in the process, and allowing me to stretch in my design abilities. Architecture promised to be a profession that would deeply challenge all my skills and allow me to continually grow. It seems to have worked out that way.


Dan Morton

Eternally artistic, I have applied those attributes to my stringent work ethic and worked within the architectural design/retail field for many years now, seeing the successful completion of many significant built projects.

Heidi Hirvonen


Heidi earned her degree in Design and Environmental Analysis at Cornell University and has been practicing commercial design and management for 20+ years. She has extensive experience in tenant improvements for the corporate, non-profit and governmental sectors. One of the things she enjoys most about her projects is working with a variety of people who each contribute to developing a client’s workplace strategy. “Who am I outside the office? I am a mom, a creator, an avid horseback rider, and a fun-loving person who likes to joke with the kids that we (and our extensive collection of animals) will be starring in the remake of ‘I Bought a Zoo’.”


Leo Soriano

I really enjoy working in the Architectural field because it makes me feel that I can contribute much to humanity on so many different levels.

Melanie Mandl


As a trained media designer from Germany, Melanie moved to San Francisco to earn her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from San Francisco State University. She became a Certified Interior Designer in California and earned her LEED AP ID+C credential. With 8+ years of experience in design, she works on all projects that involve interior design. She constantly searches for new innovative and sustainable products that can be used in TECTA’s designs. She likes the professional and engaging work environment at TECTA and is happy to be able to provide creativity and organizational skills to manage projects successfully.

Shaun Tides

Shaun Tides’ diverse knowledge accumulated over 15 years in building, design and management creates balance within construction & architecture. Starting as a builder, Shaun’s foundation in the construction industry is solid and has given a unique perspective to developing projects. He earned his degree in Architecture from University of Southern California and has experience in designing and managing public, residential and commercial projects. Like the balance in construction and architecture Shaun’s professional career shows, it would not be possible without balance in his life. Shaun is a father, husband, surfer, snowboarder, motorcyclist…he finds his element when outdoors, enjoying his family and making the most of life!

Accounting Manager

Shirley Ramos

Shirley is TECTA’s accounting manager.  She keeps the office running and the lights on. Shirley has been working in office administration and accounting for over 30 years and has been with TECTA for the majority. She is extremely dedicated to her work and prides herself on being a perfectionist.  She is a proud mother of two girls, Daniella and Daria. Shirley enjoys nights out with her family, going out with friends and trips to Lake Tahoe.

Tansy Robinson

I have enjoyed collaborating on a variety of project types over my 16+ years working in interior design and architecture but primarily in residential design. Those projects have included small home additions and renovations, high-end single family homes and multi unit high-rise projects. I enjoy molding spaces to maximize potential while adhering to the clients priorities and values. Outside of work I enjoy photography, gardening, travel and spending time with my growing family, our pets and circle of friends.

As a long time Mission raised San Francisco resident, I feel Architecture is an important aspect of our community. With over 2 decades of experience and a Licensed Architect I’ve had the privilege of working on many diverse projects. Tecta is home and fosters that feeling of community that I like. Having happy clients and producing responsible Architecture should go hand in hand and makes the profession rewarding.
